Please keep in mind that this is outside the services Perfecthost provides, but we have written this article to help you out.

First, you must set up an email account in your control panel.

If you are familiar with your email client's setup, use the following information to retrieve email from your POP account:

Incoming mail (POP3) server:
mydomain.com
Outgoing mail (SMTP) server:
mydomain.com

where "mydomain.com" is YOUR domain nameDo not type in mydomain.com, because it must be YOUR domain (website name).

If using Outlook Express:

  • Open Outlook Express.
  • Click on "Tools" in the menu bar.
  • Move down and click "Accounts"
  • Select the mail tab on the pop up window which appears.
  • Click "Add", then on "Mail"
  • Type in what you want people to see when they receive email from you next to "Display Name"
  • Click Next
  • Select "I already have an email address..."
  • Type in the email address which you have set up in your control panel.  In this case it would be me@mydomain.com
  • Click "Next"
  • Incoming mail should be     mydomain.com
  • mydomain.com   However, your Internet Service Provider (ISP) may block your ability to do use your own outgoing main server.  In fact, most ISPs do.  This is in effort to force everyone to use their outgoing mail servers.  If your ISP does block your own mailservers, then the outgoing mail should be your normal outgoing ISP mail.  If you do not know this, click "Cancel", go back to "Tools", "Accounts", and double click on an email account you already use.  Find what that address uses as outgoing mail.  Start over.  (Yes we offer smtp mail, but many ISP's will not allow its use.)
  • After typing in incoming and outgoing mail, click "Next".
  • Beside "Account Name", type in the entire email address...in this case          me@mydomain.com
In some cases, you may have to enter the entire email address.
  • Beside "Password", type in the password you chose.
  • Click "Next"
  • Click "Finish"

You're ready to go!
